When I was a classroom teacher, one of the things I struggled with the most was... grades. Assigning vastly different people a number between 1-4 on a "standardized" scale just felt... wrong to me. It didn't acknowledge the humanness of the learning process. The messiness of growth. The value of effort. As it turns out, as a small business owner I feel the same way-- but about pricing, instead of grades. It just didn't feel right to me to have only one price point available to folks, not when my clients are coming from such unique places in their lives. I believe in love. I believe in soulmates. And I don't believe that capitalism and the consumerism machine should go hand-in-hand with celebrations of love. (Of course, that's not to say we shouldn't spend money. We should, but mostly on things and services that really matter to us!) I've developed a sliding scale model that allows clients to choose from three different hourly rates. This is a tool for economic justice that I really believe in. As we work, I'll keep you updated on where we're at with our hourly estimate. We can always add or reduce hours, depending on your needs. For more on the sliding scale, including a shout out to my friend Shelby from @calathea.postpartum (the one who inspired my sliding scale in the first place!), check out the link in my bio! Everyone deserves a beautiful, love-filled event, and no matter your budget, we can figure out a way to build yours-- together! xo- Anna
