CHILD-FRIENDLY FESTIVALS
It’s so fun to be able to take our kids to festivals but choose wisely so you all end up having the best experience.
🌿 I went to @glastofest as a kid in the 80s and remember it being thrilling and magical, dancing in fields. Here are some I’ve been to that I recommend...
🌿 These pics are from @valleyfest last week - amazing. The @faithlessofficial Dj set was incredible. The site, just past Bristol is stunning and overlooks Chew Valley Lake. Food was top quality and we had a bell tent thanks to @weledauk and @brandstandcomms This is a small site but doesn’t lose the OG festival spirit or the hardcore raving into the morning.
🌿 @womadfestival - so inspiring - I go to festivals now to explore new music and this festival is the place to go for that. Loved the wellbeing area - not gimmicky and a place to trial new holistic treatments by top experts. They keep the prices low so as long as you go with money in your pocket knowing you’ll spend on a massage it’s really worth it.
🌿 I still love @campbestival - it’s bigger than the others and the music is always incredible (family festivals can 'cater for parents' music-wise). I love the way parents look out for each other. I’ve had some of my best nights there as a new mum with Eliza fast asleep in a cart while I went wild.
🌿 @cornburymusicfestival a lovely fête - v safe and @wildernesshq is too but bigger.
TIPS:
🌱 Get a cart. I end up carrying Eliza for most of the weekend to avoid major meltdowns - and she’s not light.
🌱 Ear defenders - for parents too. No late night raving with a child so ear plugs are essential.
🌱 Relax on fashion. I used to take fun things but end up wearing what I have that’s more practical.
🌱 Teach “your turn and then my turn”. It’s the only possible way that you might just get to see what band/DJ you want. Even this might not work so be prepared for not getting to see who you want.
🌱 Take snacks etc as food and drink is expensive. I don’t drink alcohol which makes it cheaper.
🌱 Write your number on your child's wristband and always find a place to say you’ll meet in case your child gets lost.
