DEATH IS MY LOVER @thepoetrybrothellondon 29 Sep 22 at @electrowerkz_ "A nose to sniff out decay, lips for the kiss of death, teeth to sink into human flesh, and still, eyes to watch them go" Thank you so much for letting me create and perform my poetry as Gen de Fauxx for the first time!! It was insane hearing from audience members about how my words resonated with them - when all *this* /gestures at everything about myself/ is my mask for moving through a world that has always felt alienating. To be honest I've still not figured out what Gen de Fauxx or my 7 min long poem is about - the obvious answer seemed to be gender / my non-binaryness, but so much is about mental illness and my connection with humans (or lack thereof). My queerness is really about my orientation in relation to the world, and creating this performance helped me explore drag as a broader way of "being" and otherness. Special shoutout to @a_kent_act for being my proud "dance mum", spending time to help me rehearse, with so much belief and confidence in me
