My cousin asked me this weekend “do you think you’re the most well balanced pro bike racer?” I laughed and responded “man, I wish that was a category! As of now i just feel like I’m doing everything poorly”. I’ve struggled this year with attempting to balance bike racing, family and the rest of the world coming back after covid (aka wedding season). In the last 7 weeks I’ve visited 22 cities and slept in my own bed 6 times. 😵‍💫 Training has suffered because I’m traveling and attending weddings. And my attendance at the weddings is also half assed because I’m riding my bike during the day, rather than being in the moment and hanging out with my friends or family. Even though my @garmincycling watch has told me I’m “unbalanced” for the past month, I wouldn’t change anything. As much as I want to be the fastest bike racer, I also don’t want to look back and regret missing the important life events of my friends and family.
