hands - a project that is ongoing since 2019, currently shown at @stadtgaleriebrixen group exhibition ‘radical softness’ hands may be said to speak. They are the organs of the body which, except for the face, express human feeling: they can enunciate love, hate, doubt, questioning, hospitality, judgment, rejection, or acceptance. The hands point or lead or command; the hands cry out in agony or they lie quietly sleeping; hands have moods and character. i scanned + photographed my own hands and arms to eventually print them on textile; filled them with italian rice and raw sheep wool from my valley back home. The pieces are photo-realistic and at the same time surreal: each measures 6m in lenght and exists as a own organism / entity.
