Thanks to @newtowncreek for organizing, and all the volunteers who came to lend a hand, break a sweat, and get a little dirty during Saturday’s cleanup of 29th street in #longislandcity - including @cmjuliewon and Blissville Civic Association. The bulkhead continues to erode, the street is always filled with water (which we temporarily drained) due a leak up the block, and on-going dumping remains a regular occurrence. Numerous agencies have let these conditions deteriorate, while local advocates and stakeholders remain fenced off from the waterway and forced to navigate unsafe street conditions. More organizing and planning is in the works- we look forward to working with all parties to finally get real improvements implemented.
