Errands and showers are not self-care, and treating them like they are is what burns moms out. 💤 Here is Elvie Warrior Stacey with her experience of communicating her self-care needs:" “It’s honestly so nice to get up, shower, and have a coffee knowing the rest of the day is mine to enjoy. We get so absorbed in our families and their needs we can put our own on the back burner. It’s nice to have the support to have a day off to shop, get my nails and hair done and be able to lounge around knowing The only person I need to cater to for the day is me. This didn’t just happen it took a lot of effort and communication to get to this point in my family dynamic, having my husband fully supports me without needing me to check in, because I intended to do that. He reassured me countless times that he and the baby were fine and I could take all the time I needed without worry. Sometimes we need to vocalize the support we need as well, whoever that support system is for you whether a friend or family! People don’t often know how to help or what you need to do to take better care of yourself, and for me, it was a well-deserved spa day! Remember a happy baby also deserves a happy mama!” #postpartum #postpartumbody #mentalhealth #womenempowerment #postpartumhealth #health
