#Repost @colvinology Vicky Virago, an 8% double IPA from Resident Culture Brewing (@residentculture) , and the Metal Build Astray Red Frame (Alternative Strike Version) . Initial hits of ripe tangerine and pineapple on the nose, joined on the second pass by mango, grapefruit, and pine resin. Quick hints of unripe berry also waft up every now and again, surfacing intermittently between waves of citrus. The sip presents as much more tropical, starting off with some sweet melon and soft mango that serve as a precursor to the ripe tangerine and ruby red grapefruit flavors that show up just afterwards. Pine rides in on the back of that sweet/bitter grapefruit, then lingers for the duration of the sip and into the finish. The juicer elements fade, but along with the bitterness, the finish also has some beautiful lingering flavors of ripe mango and melon candy. It's an 8% beer and it certainly drinks like one, although the balance between the bitter/ resinous, and sweet/ fruity flavors definitely make it unflinchingly drinkable. According to my archive, I somehow haven't had a Resident Culture beer since 2020, but I recognized their can art immediately and had to give this one a try. As with last time, I'm absolutely glad I did. It's a beautiful IPA, and the color scheme gave me an opportunity to shoot with the Astray again, which I absolutely love doing.
