Garden Delights Growing flowers and food has taught me a deep, enduring gratitude I carry every day. I grew up in cities, where nature often felt distant, but as a teenager at the Putney School, I learned to plant, tend, and harvest with my own hands. That simple act of growing something changed my life—it rooted me in the cycles of the earth and gave me lessons in patience, resilience, and abundance. In these dark and uncertain times, when the world can feel overwhelming, I return to the garden as a reminder that life continues, beauty persists, and small acts matter. In my Chinese upbringing, the harmony of Heaven and Earth shows us balance is always possible, even in chaos. And the Buddha remind us that nothing is permanent; every moment holds the seed of renewal. By planting and tending to life, we align ourselves with this greater rhythm—sowing seeds of hope for today, and for the next one thousand years. We may not be able to change the whole world today, but we can change the little piece of earth beneath our feet. And sometimes, that is enough to begin. Wishing you joy in your day. Find gratitude on this planet, and it will change you. Be well.
