Trying to find the cabin in the Hidden Forest inside of Deadman’s Canyon! 🔎🌲🪵 - 📍Hidden Forest Trail, Desert National Wildlife Refuge - This was a difficult 10.5 mile round trip hike we did yesterday. And it was tough. 😅 This is definitely called the Hidden Forest for a reason. It’s just outside Las Vegas (about 45 minutes), and it turns from desert to forest within 1 mile of walking haha. There’s a 20 mile off-road drive up to the trailhead, so you need an 4x4 high clearance vehicle. The whole hike to the cabin (5.25 miles) is uphill, a 2000 ft rise in elevation, and layered with rocks. Not a fun walk. 😆 But at least on the way back, it’s all downhill. - The Hidden Forest Cabin is thought to have been built in about 1900 and was used by prospectors, hunters, and by bootleggers during Prohibition. In 1938 the Desert Refuge was established for Big Horn Sheep and the cabin served as the first office. There have been many restoration projects, including some through the Boy Scouts and Eagle Scouts, to help preserve this rare treasure. ✨ - 🐺 PS: Can you spot Brady? 😆 . . . #visitnevada #travelnevada #thatnevadalife #lasvegas #hikesinnevada #onlyinnv #nevadalife #explorenevada #naturalnevada #traveltogether #coupleswhotravel #adventurecouple #adventure #adventureisoutthere #goneoutdoors #optoutside #takeahike #idhikethat #trekking #blueheeler #australiancattledog #adventuredog #hikingdog
