Bridging past and present ...
Stepping from the darker, historic heart of this home into such a fresh, light-filled extension can feel like a journey through time sometimes. Period features such as the original floorboards, fireplace and cornicing, sit side by side with the breezy modern elements of the “garden” room. Each preserved detail tells a story, making the space feel both timeless and grounded. Something new and beautiful is created, while also preserving a sense of history and reducing building waste.
I’m always curious as to how people bridge this gap between the old and new when renovating period properties. How have you gone about it in your own home?
