Anthropologists have no clue why we’ve lost a *tennis ball* worth of brain mass in the last 20,000 years of evolution (since the invention of agriculture and society). It somewhat alarmingly points at the “Idiocracy theory” or self-domestication. We had hoped it meant our brains were simply streamlining efficiency like smaller modern cellphones but there have been many studies showing that it hasn’t downscaled proportionate to our bodies and its size tends to be inversely proportionate to population. Zero sum game sentience? Or are we just outsourcing more like nodes in a field of consciousness? (This bald cap made me realize I have a tiny brain)
