Next week HXOUSE will be crossing the Ambassador Bridge in partnership with Detroit-based @audetorium to host an IN-HXOUSE CONVERSATIONS. We are excited to host D'Wayne Edwards, Karissma Yve, and Che Pope. This panel will be moderated by co-founder of HXOUSE Ahmed Ismail. D'Wayne Edwards is the most prominent Black designer in the footwear industry. With a 32+ year career, including over three decades from L.A. Gear, Nike and Jordan. He has designed footwear for Michael Jordan, Derek Jeter, Carmelo Anthony, and gold medal Olympians. Edwards founded @PensoleLewis College of Business & Design this past year, resurrecting the city’s only HBCU, the Lewis College, and creating the nation’s only design focused Historically Black College partnering with brands like Carhartt. As the founder and owner of her own specialty jewelry brand, @KarissmaYve faced the production problems that many designers face in an industry overrun with fast fashion. Turning obstacles into opportunity, she then began creating the next-generation of jewelry design and manufacturing through technology. Che Pope, founder of @wrkshpclub , is multi-platinum, Grammy-Award winning producer with decades of multi-faceted experience in the music industry, creating hits for Lauryn Hill, Dr Dre, The Weeknd, and Kanye West. This panel will highlight how these masters individually reached the pinnacle in their careers and major lessons learned along the way.
