I’ve been posting on social for 10 years - almost everyday - and I think it’s great way of being able to share ideas and information - but with it is the side that makes it an easy place to judge - with metrics that make it even easier to judge yourself. So I took 5 days fully offline, something I’ve never done. I decided to attend a @sheshe_retreats As you know I’ve been open with my mental health struggles in the past and this was something I decided to do and book for myself back in April. I knew I needed a proper and official reset. I had to take time away to come back to myself. I wanted to put myself in the situation that you have so often when you’re younger - meeting new people and inviting them in. Making friends as an adult can be hard, and I’ve always loved the times where I’ve met someone as an adult (not just because you studied together at school etc) and could have the first impression of yourself as your current self. I think it’s important to first MEET people at each stage of life. Present your (sometimes new and improved) current you to others. People who have no preconception of ‘what you’re like’. We often - especially on this app - see people who ‘have it all’ and I’m thankful that I have created a wonderful life for myself. But it takes it’s toll, it can be completely mind consuming. I know Internet beings often get type cast as lazy but as someone who has done this for 10 years and I don’t think ever taken a full day off from thinking about or actually doing work it can be a heavy weight on your shoulders. It came to the point where I felt quite lost in what I was creating and sharing, that same fire wasn’t there anymore for me - and I missed it. I trust that fire.It lead me to my life and work I have today. The reason I care so much is because I want to create beautiful and helpful work to share with you all. To convey my ideas correctly to you all who see them. To create a more beautiful world - quite literally. Beauty is a feeling, and I know my life’s work is to capture it and share it with others. To show what beauty can be. To show how things can be done beautifully. Beauty isn’t just a visual, it’s a way of doing things.
