When my dog Leon’s best friend Denver passed from cancer, I knew I had to do something special for him and his Mama. The portraits here are done using a technique that began in the late 1800s. First, the portraits are carved into the back of rock crystal, then painted, then sealed with another layer of material (in this case, mother of pearl.) The pictures have a three dimensional look from the front. There are only a few masters left and these were done by @michaelpeuster. Both are set in 18k yellow gold, one with diamonds and one with aquamarine. Leon and Denny met at Alta Plaza in San Francisco and became fast friends. Denver’s mom @nfhsanderson and I had no choice but to as well. My sweet boy Leon is still kicking but fighting cancer himself and the vets tell us he will probably lose his battle soon. We are spending some time at the ranch, his favorite place, and I’m wearing this necklace every day to give him (and me) strength. He has been in my life for twelve years and it’s hard to put into words what he has meant to me.
