As currently CEO Sherrie Westin and the Board of Trustees at Sesame Workshop are refusing to recognize this democratically formed union. Which, as simple as A, B, C, is union busting! With voluntary recognition, these dedicated workers, many of whom have worked at Sesame Street Workshop full time for years without officially being made “staff” so as to avoid paying them union wages, would immediately begin the bargaining process. Including bargaining over the terms of their recent devastating layoffs, as right now at Sesame, workers have zero say in their workload, layoffs, or policies big and small that impact them and their families directly. Certainly not in line with the wonderful values translated weekly to children and families on this very long running television series! A union contract allowing them to fight for all workers to have severance, PTO, healthcare, job security and more, deserving nothing less. S is for solidarity and support! Let’s show it now by helping them get as many signatures as possible for their petiton of support, and helping them keep the pressure on @sesameworkshop with shares, tags, emails and outreach, until they do the right thing.
