Happy Halloween! Costume number three is Sam from #totallyspies (@totallyspiesofficial). When I was growing up, she was my favorite of the three. It was so wonderful to see a show that made being a woman look so badass as a kid. Sam was portrayed as the "smart(est)" one of the three: the straight A student who wasn’t totally boy crazy that I could relate to as a kid. Apparently, her show Wiki says she ultimately majored in journalism! I guess it’s even more fitting that I, a magazine editor who did the same in college, honor this literal childhood hero. One of the coolest things I learned in recent weeks putting this costume together is that Totally Spies is actually a French cartoon despite it being about three California girls. It makes this costume all the more special as around the age I started watching it, I started studying French in school. Invisible strings galore! I want to give a shout-out to my crafty friend @bishplsok, who made my Wind Tunnel 3000 Tornado Blast Hair Dryer, a gadget from the show. I thought this costume would be a lot better with an accessory, and I’m so grateful I could get a little help from my talented friend to make this go the extra mile.
