For Bloomberg, I wrote about the ways in which flex work opens up space for working mothers in cis-het relationships - and how that space has been filled with labor that was once more equally split between partners, or between parents and society. There’s no policy that can combat just how hostile society has become to mothers - and the stubborn endurance of gendered unpaid labor norms. Does that mean we should get rid of flex policies? No. Does that mean that no flex policy can solve your burnout problem when it comes to women in general and moms in hetereo relationships in particular? Yes. That work has to happen on the policy level *and* on the relationship level. Thanks to all who shared their experiences with me for this story and shaped my thinking - link in bio and stories!
