I like color photos of Dr King- they remind me that his legacy wasn’t long ago and far away. His life and death were right here, and not that far back, either. My America. Your America. The beauty. The tragedy. The horror of racism. The bravery of a community willing to stand against injustice. All of it. Today we honor Dr. Rev. MLK and so many other souls before him and since who dreamed (and still dream) of a better world. The ones bold enough to step beyond the cycles of fear and retaliation towards a new path forward. Friends and strangers who echo King’s words, “I would rather die than hate my enemy.”
