I’m counting down my favorite horror movies from 10 to 1. Night of the Living Dead from 1968 still holds up as a good movie, worth watching if you haven’t seen it yet. It is famous for a black man being in the lead hero role, and a lot has been written and talked about over the decades regarding the impact of that, and about how the film handled a competent, strong black hero at the center of the story. The film today is still suspenseful, still a little scary, and its fun to look back on the OG modern zombie movie. Two bonus entries in the zombie genre: 28 Days Later for serious scares/suspense, and Shaun of the Dead for brilliant comedy.
