post account deletion thoughts đź’
.
as most of you know by now, on Friday around 1230am I lost access to my Instagram account. On Saturday I got the notification that my account was taken down for impersonation... yes lol, impersonating MYSELF
.
but here are some thoughts + takeaways I learned while I was dealing with one of the most stressful weekends of my life
.
1. an engaged audience will always find you – so many of you took to other platforms like TikTok, YouTube, and Twitter to find me, ask questions, etc. and I’m very grateful to have built a business with cross platforms!
.
2. I should have been building an email list this whole time – I’ve preached on this SO much but it seems like such an outdated social media rule... until your IG gets deleted and you have no other way to really contact your audience lol. going forward, y’all will be seeing an email list from ME!
.
3. platform diversification is very important – while I was on an IG “vacation” I was still keeping up my weekly posting routine over on YouTube! I’ve been trying to focus more and more on YouTube as a platform for a number of reasons but I firmly believe that having consistency on every platform that you can manage is very important
.
4. IG was actually extremely helpful in getting my account back (not through any connects, just the platform process itself) and I’m grateful & surprised by that! the whole deletion to reinstating process took a total of 72 hours... and we’re BACK baby!
.
all in all.... that was a WILD experience that I wish upon no one bc losing your entire business for any amount of time SUCKS
.
tysm for coming to my ted talk hehe đź’•
