A year before this shoot I shot 2 special humans on this pier. It was a crazy storm and the water from Lake Michigan was washing over the pier. It was intense but we walked out slowly the end of the pier to get the shot. It was one of the more risky moments and I volunteered to walk out first so that the models would feel more comfortable. We were the only ones there that day and it was so beautiful. It was that moment that I fell in love with this location. I know this spot is very popular and I’m not the first photographer to fall in love with it. It is a place where you can see the sky line of Chicago, sit, listen to the water, and reflect. While I stayed in Chicago last September I visited and shot in this spot many times at sunrise and sunset. And every time it gave me an moment to look back on the city I grew up and have this inner voice with myself to reflect on how far I’ve come. It was really important to me to take my recent project to my hometown and more important for me to shoot at this location specifically. For those who grew up in Chicago and for those who grew up with me, you know how special this is. Thank you to all the models who came out to create the images with me.
