Just the two of us đź’Ś
I was never someone who dreamt about my wedding growing up. I didn’t watch wedding videos, daydream about my dress or plan the songs I would play. As the day got closer, I had one hope for my wedding events - I wanted people to be happy and have fun.
I’m sure the photos and videos will reflect this, but I felt like the happiest bride in the world. I danced my heart out, laughed, cried and gave out a million hugs. I thought I would cry during my Nikkah, and I even told my father in law he couldn’t look at me during the ceremony because him tearing up always makes me cry, but I ended up smiling the whole time. I got to hold my husbands hand and sit in a room full of people I love, and say “qubool hai.” (Disclaimer: I actually said “I do” because I got confused about what the molvi was asking me and never actually got to say qubool hai... oops)
I felt so grateful that my family had put together such a beautiful event, that my husbands family traveled across the world to be part of the celebrations, and that my best friends were by my side watching me on one of my happiest days when they had also held my hand through the worst ones. My heart felt so full this day, and it still does.
And my husband... you know how couples who aren’t very happy write the longest instagram captions about each other? Given that, I’ll just say... I got a good one.
