This is my final post of 2021.
I took two this photo 2 days ago deep in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico only accessible by a small panga boat. This bay. No roads can access it, no tourists visit it. It is as an isolated lagoon where when the wind blows the sound of the leaves rattling can be heard 100 yards off-shore. And it is this very bay where, as they always have, sea turtles come for their final moments on earth.
Hidden just beneath the surface of the water are skeletons of thousands of sea turtles - decades of natural process where without emotion, they come to pass on. A surreal and humbling experience, donning snorkel and free diving this sacred place - and a fitting end to the most difficult year of my life. I know Iām not alone out there, as many people have suffered a trauma that was 2021. This photo, this view, the last thing they ever see on earth as they they surface for one final breath and then swim to their transition. I wanted to share it with you all.
Nevertheless - this pain is as temporary as this existence and our calendar, we can not but help swim the waves sent our way - surfacing when we can and enjoying a brief breath of air, of sunlight. I wish all of you solace and above all, happiness in 2022. Sending all my love and strength šš½ - and thank you for all the kind words all year long.
