Reasons you might lose your period or have an it regular cycle! Our periods are like our monthly report cards. if it’s late or nonexistent, you need to check in on yourself if any of the below may be a cause of it! These are incredibly common, but totally avoidable. Things that can cause this are: * Not eating enough: When you train too much and don’t eat to fuel your body properly your body will compensate it’s energy by taking away the energy it uses for you mentral cycle. if you’re worried about your food intake, plan & prep your meals to ensure you don’t skip! Even tracking may help if you have a hard time knowing if you’re getting enough food in for the day. * Working out too much: you know me, I LOVE working out, but too much stress on the body isn’t good for long term results and health. * not enough rest: goes back to my previous point. If you have a hard time resting if suggest planning your rest days! Take 2x rest days a week (at MINIMUM even 1) to ensure your body is recovering from the physical stress from working out. If it’s hard mentally, make something out of it! I love planning extra long self care routines & grocery shopping into my rest days to stay productive. * physical, emotional, and mental stress: we covered physical stress above, but both emotional and mental stress can also lead to skipped or late periods. Add some self care into your routine, take 5 minute walks, journal, give yourself affirmations, long baths - anything that helps you destress from whatever you’ve got going on in your life. Remember, be kind to yourself 🤍 mental health is SO important. * low body fat percentage %: don’t be scared of some body fat ladies! Our bodies were meant to store a little fat because, well.. bodies that create life need some fat on it for healthy reproduction & pregnancy. Even if you’re not trying to get pregnant, some body fat just means your are healthy enough to produce life even if you don’t want to (and that TOTALLY ok!) a healthy range for everyone will depend on various factors, like activity level, age, ect. For the average women, a range between 18-25% is great. (Competitors will have a different story during prep!)
