Can you believe we got these shots despite meltdowns and impending rain?? @michellerosephoto always works magic and it makes such a difference than when we try to take pics ourselves. These are photos we’ll cherish forever and actually print/frame!! Here are some of my other tips to getting the most out of family photos: ✨ PLAN AHEAD. I lay out all of our clothes and shoot it on my phone prior to the shoot to make sure it all looks good together. ✨COORDINATE BUT DON’T MATCH. As much as I’m a sucker for mommy-and-me looks, it’s also nice to pick a color scheme instead. This one I opted for shades of yellows and neutrals. ✨AVOID BLACK. It can reflect dark shadows on faces and be too heavy for the shots. ✨MIX UP PATTERNS, TEXTURES AND SOLIDS. Make sure everyone isn’t all in solids or all patterns so break it up with texture and interest. ✨PREP YOUR OUTFITS. Make sure to steam your clothes, check for stains (less retouching!) and make sure everyone is happy with what they will wear. ✨CONSIDER PROPS. laying out a blanket or tarp (this is a canvas drop cloth) to help give a sense of environment and brighten a space beyond just a plain background. ✨BREAK OUT TOYS. An experienced photographer will know how to direct and get kids to cooperate to get the shot but a shaker is a great way to get their attention too.
