I spent the morning writing a BANGIN’ menu for an upcoming dinner and after drooling on my computer a little bit, decided to sit in the feeling of actually being quite proud.
Been feeling crazy crazy imposter syndrome lately and I think part of it is this: running a business, solo, has a lot of moving parts that take up a lot of time. The stress that comes with getting all the clerical work done before I can even get to the cooking bit just shoots my creativity dead sometimes. I used to have a partner to share the load with but it’s been exactly two years since the split and I’ve never brought it up here until right this sec. So after two years of picking up the broken pieces and putting them back together I’ve landed in a pretty wild place. I am making the pies, batching the cocktails, picking out vegetables, cleaning the grill, marinating the fish, whisking the vinaigrette, tossing the mf salad, cutting checks AND scanning the receipts. I never ever intended on being the “chef” of chainsaw beyond desserts but I am really enjoying it and even though it adds a lot more to my plate so many of y’all still need to try an arepa and a good ol fashioned parilla 🇻🇪 🔥
As so many of you know running a business alone is mad difficult. But the feeling of accomplishment I get from knowing that somehow it’s working usually outweighs all the tough stuff.
Just had to get that off my chest before diving into a whole new year. I really can’t wait to keep cookin for y’all, so let’s fucking GO.
