Excerpt from an online performance / September 2022 Compositions and improvisation in Raag Bhupali on the occasion of Gurupurnima. ‘Jab se tumisan lāgli’ and a tarana composed by Dr. Ram Deshpande, ‘ta nom ta nom ta da re dani’. Indian classical music is my foundation. Though prior, I’d spent six years learning in Toronto, I feel my training re-began with @pt.dr.ram_deshpande when I travelled to Mumbai for an extended period of study in 2019. I’ve been training since under the guidance of him and his exceptionally talented son, @vocalist_gandhar The fact is, not many people know that I sing. It’s a first love for me and with most first loves we hold them privately and dear to us. This is the natural extension my creative life, even before I picked up a camera; naturally things flow into each other, a journey of ease and unease as always. @_meetingrivers came around a few years ago intersecting music and photography, those meaningful moments we find in music and image which compel us to pause...
