5 most unique trails in California you must try π π Ladder Canyon / Painted Canyon Loop β Chuckwalla National Monument, 1h from Palm Springs π₯Ύ 4.8 mi loop, 879 ft elevation gain π The road is unpaved so you might want to have a higher clearance car. Itβs not a hard drive but you do drive through any areas. You donβt have to do the whole loop to experience the ladders. They are very close to the beginning of the trail. π Bumpass Hell Trail β Lassen Volcanic National Park π₯Ύ 3.0 mi round trip, 439 ft elevation gain π Opens mid-July to October due to snow. Full of flowers mid-summer! π General Grant Tree Trail β Kings Canyon National Park π₯Ύ 0.7 mi loop, 32 ft elevation gain π Walk through the Fallen Monarch and see the General Grant Tree, the second largest in the world. One of the easiest trails from the list. π Crowley Lake Columns β about 1h drive from Bishop, Eastern Sierra π₯Ύ 4.2 mi out & back, 518 ft elevation gain π Best visited in late summer or fall when water levels are low enough to reach the columns.
