What’s the inspiration behind the piece that’s featured? The photo's model, Essence Taylor, served as the source of inspiration. She & I have collaborated on numerous projects, & each time we do, something magical happens. I merely wanted to shoot some photographs of her while I was visiting Los Angeles, where this was shot. Her grace & the setting surrounding me simply inspired me. How does your heritage influence your creative process? My heritage influences my creative process greatly. My heritage is an important part of who I am. My upbringing in Italy, Ghanaian roots, & Chicago have all influenced my work. What is currently driving your creativity? My creativity is currently being driven by life. Conversations with friends, music, catching the sun early in the morning, & my loved ones are all fuelling my creativity right now. Can you share one thing that you find interesting right now? I'm slowly getting back into sports, particularly soccer. Soccer was everything to me when I lived in Italy, but I lost interest after moving to the United States. I'm gradually returning to it, getting excited about it again, watching documentaries about it & being inspired by their stories. Tennis is another sport that has sparked my interest recently. #somethingspaces #lawrenceagyei
