Our first ever launch event: Our event on Thursday was not only about showcasing our new collection; it served as opportunity to touch on sustainably and the fashion industry. It’s no secret that climate change is real and the fashion industry is one of the largest contributors. Most of what we wear is made from plastic which comes from fossil fuels. And every piece of plastic ever made still exists today. Around 8 million tons finds its way into our oceans each year and 1/2 million comes from textiles. Regardless, everything we produce affects our planet directly or indirectly. With 8 billion people and growing consumption is not declining. Ive learnt that we can’t easily change peoples behavior, but we can give them better options. Fashion is an essential part of self expression and always will be. How can we reconfigure something that has become so disruptive to our home? And how can we mend our habits to become harmonious with our planet? That was my thought when I started the brand...to fuse my two passions and make something conflicting, become reciprocal. It gives me great joy to be in a room and know that all the ladies where wearing natural fabrics on their skin. Fibers that have been grown without pesticides and chemicals, fabrics that have been woven with tradition and garments that have been sewn ethically. Now Im certainly not suggesting that my clothing or last nights tonight’s event offers a global panacea but I know that mindful moments generate momentum and inspiration for wider action. My team and I are devoted to dismantling unsustainable systems. Each day we are actively seeking out new ways to be and do better. We never let ourselves get complacent and continue to push the bounds on what sustainable fashion means There is a raft of makers who are fostering disruptive approaches to a more sustainable future and I’m excited for what’s to come. yes!
