Yoshiyuki Konishi Checkered Leather Moto Set now live. While much of the post-mortem focus on Yoshiyuki Konishi’s eponymous brand revolves around his hand-knit sweaters, the designer’s maximalist proclivities similarly blossomed into a striking array of glam-rock influenced garments which made him popular with Japanese pop stars of the era. Ryuichi Sakamoto and other prominent artists can be seen sporting Konishi’s intricate tailoring and leather goods across concerts, album covers, and music videos. This checkered leather moto set is one of the best examples I’ve come across of his stage-ready wears. They blend the label's high-quality craftsmanship with an inventive take on the hard-line geometric patterns which guided the New Wave pop movement’s visual language.
