The well researched and trenchant historical and socio-economic account, „delves into the past only because otherwise it would be impossible to understand how the present came into being and what the trends are for the near future“ (Rodney) by taking us through the institutionalisation of colonialism, the partitioning of peoples, the destruction of knowledges and cultures, and how they had repercussions in the moment of 1971/72 as well as in the now. Rodney’s scholarly works and political activism engendered a new political consciousness. And „he continued – especially by his example – to encourage all of us to move toward a radically transformed vision of ourselves and of our capacities for changing our lives and our objective conditions.“ The reason, his life was taken away brutally.
