This week. This crew. This burn. It didn’t take me long to understand why everyone was welcoming me home when I first stepped foot on playa. I’ve never felt more at home and at peace even with the particularly gnarly conditions this year including 100+ degree days and whiteouts at night. Despite the challenges (and there were many) I wouldn’t trade my experience for anything. Burning Man is not a festival. It is a city that we, the people who populate it, build. And then we burn it all down and leave no trace, just to do it all again next year. I understand why it’s such a magical place now. It embodies a sense of greater community that is truly hard to replicate anywhere else. The ways that people participate and contribute to the creation of the city, the care of fellow burners, and the entire experience is extraordinary, if I had to choose one word to sum it up. I would not have had the burn that I did without the love, support, and encouragement I received from my friends and chosen family - both on playa and off. It is such a privilege to be surrounded by humans who not only support my growth, but delight in playing a part in it. Being allowed that space to expand, no matter how messy or non-linear, is the biggest gift. My heart is spilling at the brim with connections, old and new. Also: so. much. FIRE. 🔥 Watching some of the best fire performers in the literal world was unparalleled. I got to see props I had never even heard of before and I’m itching to spin more in the default world. One specific highlight I’ll share: igniting my new 6-point lotus rope dart off of the embers of the burn was the most powerful spiritual experience I’ve had in years. (Video of its virgin burn earlier in the night at the end). This was a truly life-changing week. My gratitude is through the roof. The playa gave me exactly what I needed...not what I wanted. And I can’t wait to do it all again next year. Until I return to the dust again... )’(
