Like father, like son. The Mariño family has been in the coffee business for some time. Luis Sr.’s farm sits atop a panoramic peak just outside of San Pedro. His son took up the helm nearby. With six hectares of coffee already planted, he’s ready to begin farming on another four. Over the past six years, he’s been working organically, believing it to be the best methodology for the cherry’s development, as well as his farm’s ecosystem. With more than five springwater sites between the two farms, the Mariños know the importance of retaining healthy waters not only for themselves, but for everyone downstream from them.
