Graphic patches referencing the Soul scene.⁠ ⁠ The North of England has long romanced Belgian designer, Raf Simons with stylistic and cultural reference points regularly featuring in his eponymous line.⁠ ⁠ From the artwork of Peter Saville to the music and style of New Order and Joy Division, identity and community are always at the heart of these references. Inspired by what happens when fashion, music and multiculturalism collide within the soul scene, Raf Simons focuses on the north of England, reinterpreting Fred Perry pieces infused with the sensibilities he is renowned for.⁠ ⁠ Built on a predominantly black colour palette, key pieces are decorated with patches that reference the vinyl labels from Soul records. Highlight colours of light pink, cloud blue and white come through via the sewn-on patches and embroideries which have been created based on imaginary record labels, artists, and song titles invented especially for this collection.⁠ ⁠ As well as polo shirts, T-shirts, and oversized sweats, we also present a denim jacket and matching trouser made in a brushed cotton twill fabric. Outerwear is especially strong, with a Harrington jacket made with a cotton gabardine shell and designed with a boxy fit and a printed graphic patch on the left chest. There is also an unlined blazer with a three-button front closure, pockets at the waist, and a printed graphic patch on the chest. The parka jacket which features all the markings of our traditional parka; epaulettes, a drawcord waist, fishtail hem and shaped flap pockets, plus the addition of a large print on the back with multiple graphic patches all over.
