We took a special trip back in January to introduce Galileo to my grandma. Her “Great Grams”. It was so special! My grandma is 90 years older than Galileo and seeing them interact, laugh and play together is something I will cherish forever. During our visit , I was thinking that having children, grandchildren, great grandchildren is like being immortalized- you are passed down through them. You are a part of them, not only your genetic material, but your teachings, your ideas, your sacrifices. The good, the bad and everything in between- we carry so much power in how we shape the little humans in our lives. My grandma grew up in a time of segregation and has watched the world change in so many significant ways and now here is her great granddaughter who could never fathom what that experience must have been like. My grandma’s first language was Spanish and culturally Spanish is a very big part of my family. Galileo knows how to say tree in Spanish (still working on it in English lol) and is learning her colors in Spanish because of my grandma and what she taught my mom and then to me. It’s beautiful how these small, but meaningful things are passed down from generation to generation. It is the sacrifice of those before us that we get to live the life that we do. It’s the love, traditions and little moments shared with their children/grandchildren, that allow people to truly live on beyond their time here on earth. We are nothing without those that come before us. Forever grateful for my beautiful grandma my beautiful mom and my precious gorgeous daughter. I will cherish these photos always and what they represent. Four generations together in one picture. My grandma 90, mom 60, me 35 and Galileo 9 months. I am so grateful to have been born into such a strong line of women, grateful for the big love my grandma has given us. We are her legacy. ❤️ 📸: @kategrutskyphotography
