In true Filipinx fashion and just in time to close Filipinx-American History Month and Philippine Indigenous Peoples Month, we are honored to release a very special video featuring our collaboration with the T’boli-owned enterprise @sesotunawa. In March 2019, we set out to Lake Sebu in South Cotobato, Philippines to do a skillshare workshop with @sesotunawa. After two years of working directly with the community we felt called to further cultivate our relationship them. For us, it was very important to learn more about indigenous life by engaging firsthand with these people who dedicate their lives to preserving ancient craft and tradition. Over the course of a few days, the Tau Temwel (master brass-casters) taught us their age-old brass-making process, Temwel, and co-founder/jewelry-smith, @jeanettesawyer, shared new insight with modern tools and techniques. By building strong relationships with the community and telling their stories on our platform, we hope they are empowered to continue carrying on indigenous practices and being culture-bearers to the rest of the world 🇵🇭 Creative direction by @eyevfaye Narrated by @k4kilo Filmed by @philnisco Edited by @christianklong Special thank you to @joyanyalim of @anthillfabricgallery for guiding us in our fieldwork and to @sesotunawa for opening your homes and hearts to us. We are honored to build with you <3 #maaaritravels
