Trigger Warning: Mentions Suicide Michael Odell was a Bay Area travel nurse who left during his shift & did not come back. Michael Odell identified & understood how broken our healthcare system is. Michael cared deeply about his work as a nurse & it showed in his practice. Michael Odell, like so many of us, was troubled by the toxic & exploitative American Healthcare System. As a nurse, he gave so much to a system that only TOOK from him Michael Odell deserved better. His story is one of so many. Countless nurses & other healthcare workers are struggling to cope with mental illness & the detrimental effects of moral injury, exposure to trauma & burnout that we experience each shift we work in healthcare.
