Would you follow yourself on Instagram if you weren’t you? Like, for real for real? Stop and go to your Instagram page and look at it as if you’ve just stumbled across your page for the first time. Click on some of the posts, read the captions. Are you attracting new people? Or are you focused on yourself? Are you providing value? Or are constantly trying to sell something? Are you inspiring people with helpful words, outfits, looks, art, tips or resources? Or are you turning them off by making everything about YOU. Are your posts lifting people up? Or are they tearing people down? When people tell us that they aren’t growing and they blame the algorithm, we shake our heads. It’s not the algorithm sis, it’s your content. Once you learn who your audience is and what challenges and inspires them, that will tell you what you should be posting. Post things that provide solutions to your community’s challenges, adds value to their lives and inspires and entertains them. For us, our target audience is Creators, Black Creators in particular that are looking to master their craft. Their challenges are how to grow? How to build a brand, how to create compelling content and how to work with brands and charge what they are worth. They are inspired by the success of other Black Creators that are out here killing it and they are entertained when we make light of some of the pain points and challenges that creators have to deal with every day. They are also on the hunt for tips, tricks and resources that will help them build their community. Whenever we post we make sure that each post is either providing solutions to those challenges, nurturing those inspirations or providing value in a way that helps our core audience be better than they were yesterday. It’s easier said than done, and we only started implementing this recently! But the moment we did, we saw immediate results. On December 23rd we decided to implement the strategy that we preach to our signed talent every day. We started with 6K followers & today we’re sitting at a cool 17,400.
