What better way to kickoff BCAM than sitting in a room with dedicated change makers and brainstorming ways to better rethink breast cancer? We are so honoured and grateful to gather with 20 powerful advocates in the breast cancer community who sit on Rethink’s advisory boards and are key collaborators in Rethink’s work. We’ve spent the weekend at our Key Collaborator’s Summit doing some important strategic planning for the year ahead and brainstorming how to strengthen our work together through action. THIS is how we’re entering Breast Cancer Awareness Month — by acting. Listening, connecting and collaborating, together. Over the years, Rethink has seen how powerful collaboration is when it comes to impact and making real change, and we are so grateful for all the people who contribute. We all play a role, and it is so needed in this effort to rethink breast cancer. This is where our future as a movement lies. And while we want to share BTS of our Key Collaborator’s Summit with you, we also understand BCAM and October can be a triggering, hard and/or bittersweet time for many. It can feel empowering one day and exhausting the next. It can feel devastating and joyful at the same time. It is different for everyone, and no matter how you are feeling, we want you to know we see you and your feelings are valid. And if now is feeling like a good time for a social media/tech break, you are not alone and we hope you feel empowered to do what you need to do to take care of yourself. Protect your peace, whatever that looks like for you. During BCAM, we’re going to be sharing about new content, projects, partnerships and new ways to get involved. We’ll be talking about advocacy, driving real change, health equity, pink washing, metastatic breast cancer, and more. We’re excited about this work. We hope you’ll be excited too. But we acknowledge there are moments where things may be triggering and you might not want to see it all right now. That is ok! It will all be here for you when you are ready for it.
