Sharing some reflections (and beautiful photos!) from a two week trip to Uganda and Tanzania to visit restoration partners with @onetreeplanted @restore_forward #terrafund for #afr100 We had site visits with kikandwa environmental association Nsamizi @ecotrustug @kijaniforestry @thekiliproject @fair_tree @justdiggit @lead.tz In addition, we hosted a meeting in Kampala to meet with eight partners from Uganda that we simply didn’t have time to visit on this trip, but coordinated a half day meet, greet, sharing and learning session. I was humbled and inspired by each and every organization and I am grateful to the partners and donors and everyone who is supporting this work. Scaling restoration work is hard because every landscape is different. Different challenges, opportunities, communities, capacities, needs, ecologies, etc. etc. etc. What works in one part of Uganda, would not work in another part of Uganda, even. There are lessons, best practices, and approaches that can be scaled. But there is not one approach to landscape restoration that will work everywhere. Some essential components: Partnership Listening Experience Capacity Building I will also say: Thank you @petersize10 ! It was amazing traveling with a profession photographer. Wow. These are all his photos. Also, wildlife in Africa. I have always been a fan of wildlife. But seeing so many inspiring animals so up close and personal, and so close to many of our projects sites, I have a new appreciation for wildlife conservation and the intersection with community involvement. So much more to say. But I will leave it there. #onetreeplanted #generationrestoration #africa #rhino
