A real highlight of this weekend was passing along my much loved American Girl dolls (and outfits, some of them lovingly made by my Grandma Helen and Great Aunt Bernie, yes I realize that pink sweater is not Samantha canon) to my pals Allison and Avery. It took me a few months because once my mom brought them over, I realized they clearly both needed new hairbrushes, and then I got sucked into the gaping maw that is the contemporary American Girl Catalog and bought lockets and change purses too. @bethrandall came over to supervise the Samantha hair brushing and it’s wild, the memories these dolls, like any childhood keepsake, elicit. There are so many things I love about being Auntie Blondie and this was one of them.
