I’m so happy to finally share some images from a recent project with the wonderful @laurentfranks. Chatting back in lockdown, Lauren mentioned her Dad’s incredible all-black (it is, all black!) wardrobe from his day job as tour manager. We decided to re-purpose the pieces with a cast of brilliant new faces, all re-styled beautifully by Lauren, over a couple of days at my studio. It was such a pleasure to work with this amazing team and a real honour to be trusted with something so personal to Lauren. The first image is some recycled test strips from my scrapbook, followed by a few of the prints from the main story... more to come soon. Enormous thanks to everyone involved; @laurentfranks @kojimahiroki @dexter_makeup and @erinfeeproduction Lauren’s Dad Andy kindly wrote a little piece for us too, for context: “The Man in Black Some people remark that I wear a lot of black, but actually, I wear only black. All day. Every day. In the mid 1980’s I was doing a lot of shows, mostly with Depeche Mode. I was a monitor engineer, so I was on stage (well, at the side but visible) for the performance. I had to wear black for the show, so as not to be seen. Rather than get changed, I wore black all day. I then realised that I was in black more than I was in my 'civvies'. It seemed time to make the move. I got all the non-black clothes, took them to charity shops, and have worn black ever since. I do have two white shirts – I wear them to funerals, out of respect. Occasionally people will see my wardrobes and say 'Wow, you really do only have black clothes...!' I'm not sure if they think that when I get home from tour, I slip into my yellow dungarees... I don’t. Andy Franks”
