Growing up in Coventry I was always frustrated by how much the city ignored its cultural history. From Two Tone in the 70s to Dance Music in the 90s, these were global social and political movements that had been strongly influenced by the people of Coventry. None more so than The Specials, their song Ghost Town paints a perfect picture of my frustration and why I had to leave in my early twenties. A song that in 2022 can be the anthem for cities up and down the country including London. The group played a huge part in shaping my outlook and their influence will never end.
