Every single teacher, including myself, has said things that range from simply incorrect to totally absurd. In the passion of the moment, we’ve exaggerated, made claims, and cited facts that are alternative at best. Why? We’re human and we err. And, to be fair, MOST of the things that MOST teachers say are reasonable, supportive, accurate, and helpful.
But, there are certain questionable tales, strangely, that get repeated so frequently that they become normalized as factual and measurable. Things like, “twists are detoxifying,” “ujaayi breathing is likely to strain your vocal chords,” and “jumping back to Chaturanga is safer than jumping back to plank.”
These statements probably need a little clarification and unpacking, since they’re not entirely accurate. At very least, they need some contextualization and refinement. And, where better to have this conversation? On Yogaland with @andreaferretti. This is one of my favorite episodes in a long time and I’d love for you to listen.

As an aside, I’ve had to relearn so many damn things over the years that I encourage you to have absolutely no shame in making errors! This isn’t about judging, it’s about understanding how easy it is to err and make sure we continue to grow.
