When strolling through Jardin des Tuileries, one might be drawn in by the beauty of the 17th century gardens and sculptures created by the modern masters. I, however, am captivated by the banal and overlooked beauty of a large, well lit blank wall constructed to obfuscate a public works project. The garden and its statues have been witness to amazing human stories and will last many lifetimes, this wall will disappear in a few months and that is why it is beautiful to me. The beauty of Paris is overwhelming. But this sight stopped me in my tracks as everyone strolling the gardens this evening walked on past, oblivious to the juxtaposition of this temporary structure amidst the relative permanence of the landscaping, hardscaping and art decoration of Le Jardin des Tuileries.
