Depending on the insurance and on the clinic you might need to pay out of pocket and then submit the claim to the insurance, or if the insurance pays entirely you have one problem less. Medicaid doesn't usually cover intensives. If your insurance doesn't cover it, don't loose hope, there are multiple non profits that can help with this and they are helping a lot of families every day. Make sure you apply for grants in advance! Other things you have to consider, where are you going to stay if you have to travel out of state? When we traveled to Austin TX last year we were lucky enough to stay at Ronald McDonald House of Charities and were able to save, but unfortunately every state has different rules and sometimes even if there is a RMHC close to the clinic you can't stay there. To check if you can stay at RMHC, ask the clinic they should know this, because they have to submit a request for you in order to stay at RMHC. If you're considering intensive therapy be prepared that it's going to be an intensive for you as a parent too, emotionally and physically is exhausting for both the parents and the child. Your child might get upset, might cry, because it is really hard, but all the hard work is paying off 💪 I don't know where Matthew would've been today without intensive therapy. He is where he is thanks to intensive therapy, there is absolutely no doubt.
