I’ve been vague on Instagram and hesitant to say anything too defining regarding my company @midheavendenim The truth is running a fashion business in today’s climate has been both challenging and exhilarating. The amount of access we have to one another and in essence customers makes it generally easy for anyone to start a business, but what I’ve found is that it takes a very unique and specific set of skills to grow a business. It’s expensive and requires immense drive and work ethic to keep going in an over saturated world, not to mention one that can cause such extreme damage to the environment. I have always strived to be as conscious of my impact on the planet as possible and also to do things that fill my heart up and make me excited and proud to go to work in the morning and continue to build a dream that was formulated a long time ago. Covid brought a forced pause that I took as time to focus on what I love about the things I do, be it in fashion, film or photography. We began making things for other companies and with that came freedom to step away from Midheaven for a moment and contemplate her. I miss her and I miss the people we hold dear that have helped us build the business to what it is today: a living, breathing entity that’s been waiting in the wings while we sort stuff out. It’s products like this that remind me of why I love making things, and I think I will again, one thing at a time ✨ it can be slow and steady. It doesn’t have to be massive or even moderately big. It can be small and manageable and thrive in the care I’m able to give it, one day at a time. I’m going to do another run of production on this robe, and only sell what has been pre-purchased.
