We’re getting hitched!!! 💍 On our last night in Thailand, Gavin asked me to marry him while the sun was setting over the ricefields. We had a magical day, starting with waking me to a bubble bath he had run for me and a hot walnut milk cappuccino. We woke up slowly and made our way to our favorite little Mexican joint for mushroom breakfast tacos. Hopping on our scooter (aptly named “Mellow Yellow” for its hilariously janky and slow abilities), we headed into town for a 4 hr Thai cooking class where we learned to make my favorite dishes from Tom Kha to Som Tom to every type of curry paste, all made with local seasonal ingredients picked from our cooking teachers garden on property (think galangal, lemongrass, and a variety of vibrant Thai chilies). With full bellies, we hopped back on mellow yellow to go explore a bamboo bridge our dear new travel friend @jag_ouar suggested. Walking way farther than every other “farang”, we stumbled upon a magical hidden forest monastery. We walked around the grounds in awe at the silent beauty of this place. As we walked away, I told Gav that something about this space and time gave me hope for the world. As we traversed away from the wat (temple) down the rickety bridge, we came across a palapa where colorful decorations resembling dream catchers hung and swayed in the wind. We stopped, a bench welcoming us to stay for a while. As part of our daily routine with each other, we do Wim Hoff breathwork but it had gotten away from us that morning with the bath and cappuccinos and all the unexpected indulgences. So I asked if he wanted to breathe with me there. Of course it was a resounding yes so we stopped and started our practice. (Side note: Gavin and I typically can hold our breathe for about the same amount of time, 2+ minutes depending on the day and round, but this time we gasped for air after only a few seconds. The nerves were alive and well in his body little did I know at the time!). Continued in comments...
